Direct debit payments 'could lead to better deals'
People on low incomes who choose to pay for goods in cash may miss out on the best available deals, it is believed.

Research compiled by Lindsey Kearton for Consumer Focus Wales has found that a number of Welsh consumers are still favouring cash when making transactions.

However, in a development that may interest people looking to overcome credit card debt by making money savings, Ms Kearton believes this could mean that some consumers are spending more than they need to.

She noted: "It is clear that people who pay by direct debit are more likely to get better deals than those who use cash. However, confusion and suspicion surround direct debits."

Meanwhile, Consumer Focus Scotland has suggested that a number of the country's residents may be paying too much for their energy bills because they are wary about the implications of switching to a different energy supplier.ADNFCR-2660-ID-19464458-ADNFCR
